Wittra joins KTH, Scania and Volvo CE in national R&D project for circular vehicle logistics

June 4, 2026

Together with KTH Royal Institute of Technology, RISE, Scania, Volvo Construction Equipment and Autocirc, Wittra has been selected as a technology partner in DECIDE – a new national R&D project funded under Sweden's FFI Circularity programme, running from June 2026 to May 2030.

DECIDE will develop and demonstrate new approaches to digital, flexible and circular internal logistics in vehicle manufacturing. The project targets real industry challenges: high product variety, parallel ICE/EV production and growing remanufacturing flows – with the ambition to reduce cost, complexity and CO₂ emissions from internal material handling.

Wittra contributes its industrial IoT hybrid network for real-time localisation and monitoring of materials and assets – serving as the data layer for the project's decision support, digital twin and analytics environments. Key use cases include dynamic routing, improved planning stability and traceable circular flows on the shop floor.

A full-scale Learning Factory demonstrator at KTH will serve as the primary test environment, combining physical experiments with digital twins under realistic brownfield conditions.

Through DECIDE, Wittra strengthens its position as a Physical AI enabler – providing the real-world data infrastructure that intelligent systems need to understand, optimise and automate complex industrial environments. The project offers a high-credibility arena to build reference cases alongside leading Swedish OEMs and research institutions.
